YouGot and Google Calendar

Your schedule already lives in Google Calendar. YouGot works with it in both directions: the reminders you set can land on your calendar, and the events already on it can create a reminder early enough to be useful. Included with the Plus and Business plans.

What it does

Reminders become calendar events. Pick Calendar as a delivery option on any reminder and YouGot writes the event onto the calendar you chose. Move that event in Google and the reminder moves with it. Delete it and the reminder is cancelled. You don't have to keep two lists in sync by hand.

Your calendar creates prep reminders. YouGot reads the calendars you select and decides which events actually need a heads-up beforehand — something to bring, somewhere to drive, something to finish first. Then it sends that reminder on whichever channel you use: email, SMS, WhatsApp, web push, Google Calendar, or webhook.

On your calendar

Soccer practice — 5:00 PM

What YouGot sends

4:00 PM: Soccer practice at 5. Pack the cleats and a water bottle.

On your calendar

Dentist — Thursday, 9:00 AM, across town

What YouGot sends

Wednesday 8:00 PM: Dentist at 9 tomorrow. It's a fair drive, so leave early.

On your calendar

Flight to Austin — Friday, 6:00 AM

What YouGot sends

Thursday 7:00 PM: Flight at 6 in the morning. Check in tonight and pack the charger.

Routine meetings, focus blocks, and FYI holds get skipped — a reminder you didn't need is worse than no reminder. And YouGot never creates a prep reminder from an event it wrote to your calendar itself; that event already is a reminder.

How to connect

  1. In YouGot, open Settings → Google Calendar → Connect.
  2. Sign in with Google and approve the access YouGot asks for. You can untick anything you'd rather not grant; YouGot will tell you what stops working if you do.
  3. Choose which calendars YouGot may read. Everything you don't tick is left alone.
  4. Choose the one calendar YouGot writes your reminders to.
  5. Leave smart reminders on, or switch them off. You can change your mind at any time.

What we read, write, and store

This mirrors Section 26 of our privacy policy, which is the binding version.

  • What we read: The list of calendars on your Google account, so you can pick which ones to use. On the calendars you pick, we read event titles, start and end times, locations, and descriptions.
  • What we write: Events you ask us to add. We create, update, and delete the events that come from your YouGot reminders, on the calendar you selected. We don't touch events we didn't create.
  • What we store: Your Google account email, your access and refresh tokens (encrypted at rest), the IDs of the calendars you selected, and, for each event we look at, its ID, a content hash, and the reminder decision we made. We never store the text of your calendar events.
  • How AI is involved: Event titles, times, locations, and descriptions go to our AI provider for one purpose only: deciding whether an event is worth an earlier prep reminder. The provider doesn't retain that data for model training.
  • Retention: Tokens are deleted when you disconnect, and no later than 30 days after your plan stops including the feature. Event IDs, content hashes, and decisions follow our normal reminder retention.
  • Nothing is sold: We don't sell, rent, or share your calendar data, and we never use it for advertising or to train models.

Turning smart reminders off

Smart reminders have a single switch in Settings → Google Calendar. Turn it off and YouGot stops reading your events for the AI entirely — no further calls, no new decisions — and anything it had queued but not yet sent is cancelled. Writing reminders to your calendar keeps working; the two directions are independent.

Every reminder that came from your calendar also carries a link to that switch, so you can turn it off from the reminder itself rather than hunting through Settings. Turn it back on and the next sync picks up from there.

To disconnect entirely, use Settings → Google Calendar → Disconnect. That revokes our access and deletes the stored tokens. You can also revoke it from your Google Account at myaccount.google.com/permissions.

Privacy and Google's Limited Use policy

YouGot's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

In plain terms: your calendar data is used to run the reminder features on this page and nothing else. Not for ads, not for training models, not for sale. The full detail is in Section 26 of the privacy policy.

Frequently asked questions

Which plans include the Google Calendar integration?
Plus and Business, and the free trial. Pro doesn't include it. Nothing happens until you connect a calendar yourself.
Will YouGot create reminders for my meetings?
Only for the ones that need preparation. Routine meetings, focus blocks, and FYI holds get skipped. If something still isn't useful, you can mute that kind of event, or switch smart reminders off entirely in Settings.
Does YouGot remind me about the events it created itself?
No. An event YouGot wrote to your calendar already is a reminder, so a second one would just double-notify you. Smart reminders only ever come from events you or someone else put on the calendar.
Can I disconnect?
Any time, from Settings. That revokes our access and deletes the stored tokens. You can also revoke it straight from your Google Account at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Do you read every calendar on my account?
No. You pick which calendars YouGot may read and the single calendar it writes to. Everything else is left alone.
